Grandma Moses was “discovered” in 1940 by Otto Kallir, who oversaw her rise to international fame. In collaboration with Hildegard Bachert, he authored the Grandma Moses catalogue raisonné in 1973. Thereafter, Bachert and Otto’s granddaughter, Jane Kallir, continued to research the artist’s oeuvre. The Moses archives are today owned and administered by the Kallir Research Institute, which provides curatorial assistance to museums and facilitates loans. Eventually, the KRI plans to issue a digitized update of the Moses catalogue raisonné.

The Kallir Research Institute provides opinions on the authenticity of works not included in the 1973 Moses catalogue raisonné. Please contact us for further information.
